The primary goal of a Therapeutic community is to foster personal growth. Driving Change – Impaired driving group
• Driving Change Group - a Recidivist Drink driving Group - people with three or more EBA convictions. [email protected]

• Alcohol and Drug Support groups - '24/7' - rational recovery based support group, 'Friday group' - a support group focus on planning for the weekend.

Older Persons Alcohol and Other Drugs Service – 65 Alive
65 Alive - Older persons alcohol and other drug service - A service for people over 65 experience significant alcohol and/or other drug issues - a coexisting capable service. A service that supports other services work with older people experiencing alcohol and other drug issues. View website.

Community Youth Mental Health and Addiction Service (03) 281 7616 [email protected] -Intervention for youth aged 13-18 years with moderate mental health and/or alcohol and drug issues. These sessions are focused on ways to overcome difficulties related to the above issues. This service is a joint project with Odyssey House Trust, Steeping Stone Trust and Pura Pura Wetu involvement.

ADAS - Alcohol and Other Drug Assessment and treatment service a collaboration between Odyssey and the City Mission. [email protected] An alcohol and drug assessment and treatment service for adults in the criminal justice system. The team work at the Justice Precinct, Community Probation sites in Christchurch and North Canterbury and in Canterbury prisons providing a range services including group work, individual counselling and peer support. Assessment and individual treatment in the community. It can refer on to residential and day programs.

He Kete Oranga o te Mana Wahine – Our women’s programme is a therapeutic community offering treatment to women within the criminal justice system- 4 months in residence, followed by intensive outreach supporting a positive transition to the community and whanau. [email protected]

Take Charge: Engaging with young people aged between 18 and 25, our focus is on supporting the young people to: Find sustainable employment opportunities, Navigate training pathways, Transition into being ‘work ready’, Provide “In Work Support” for the following 12 months [email protected]

Hapori Ora is a collaboration between Odyssey House Christchurch and Christchurch City Mission. It is an intensive group-based alcohol and other drug treatment programme delivered by a supportive team of experienced professionals and peer support workers.

The programme consists of 32 group sessions offering holistic support around alcohol and other drug treatment needs. Groups about health and well-being, mood management, communication skills, healthy relationships, SMART recovery and outdoor therapy will form part of the programme content.

Drug Treatment Programme & Aftercare Service, Christchurch Men’s Prison

The Drug Treatment Programme at Christchurch Men’s Prison is funded by the Department of a Corrections. It is a 6 month alcohol and drug treatment programme, based on a modified therapeutic community programme, which fits within the prison environment.

The primary goal is to foster personal growth. This is accomplished by changing an individual’s lifestyle through a community of concerned people working together to help themselves and each other. Residents receive extensive assessment, individual and group therapy as well as education and structured activities.
Individuals who graduate the Drug Treatment Programme can elect to work with a member of the Aftercare team for up to a year after graduation. Aftercare support is delivered both within the prison, if a client remains in prison after graduation, and within the community. It consists of group and individual therapy.
Aftercare workers help to build a network of support around an individual and can also work with whanau or family members, employers, Community Probation Officers and others who the client identifies as a significant support in maintaining change.
Odyssey House Trust Christchurch run a Drug Treatment Programme at Christchurch Men’s Prison.
Referrals to the Drug Treatment Programme are managed by the Department of Corrections.; Christchurch Central Service (CCS) – AOD (Alcohol And Other Drug) Coordination
A coordination and resource centre for alcohol and drug issues. A key role of this service is to facilitate access to the Canterbury AOD treatment services. The service provides screening and assessment to help link the person win with the appropriate AOD service.
This includes access to Residential services, Day Programs, Individual Counselling and Group Work. The service has social workers, AOD counselors, nurses, peer support workers and psychologist on the team

Criteria to stay
Youth Residential Programme:
14-18 years who are experiencing serious difficulties with substance misuse and other associated problems.

Adult Residential Programme:
- 17 years and over*
- Meet DSM IV criteria for alcohol and/or other drug abuse - dependence
- Personality difficulties requiring long-term residential treatment.· (Personality disorders which are predominantly anti-social, borderline or narcissistic)
- Not currently suicidal, homicidal or psychotic (any history of arson, physical or sexual assault requires further follow-up)
- Agrees voluntarily to rules and regulations of Odyssey House
- Is medically suited for programme
- Not intoxicated on admission
- Not requiring medical detox
- Methadone maintenance if stable
- May be on home detention

The rules:
- No stealing
- No drugs, alcohol or other contraband (e.g. money or unauthorised property)
- No sex or sexually acting out
- No violence or threats of violence
- No Gambling
